Understanding Stockholm Syndrome

Yesterday, the staff at Friend to Friend participated in the Child Welfare Virtual Expo: Building Capacity to Address Sex Trafficking and Normalcy. Throughout the day, experts presented on different topics focusing on sex trafficking. One of the takeaways during a presentation was becoming educated in Stockholm Syndrome and its effect on victims of human trafficking. Just like we see in victims of domestic violence, victims of human trafficking are often asked, "Why did you stay?”

Understanding the Stockholm Syndrome can help to answer that questions.
