Last year, in 2014, Moore County Sheriff’s deputies handled over 1,000 domestic violence calls. Currently, Friend to Friend serves approximately 2,700 domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. There is an increased demand on Friend to Friend, as bordering counties shelters have closed due to the counties’ inability to sustain the shelter. Therefore, Friend to Friend’s services and programs are becoming a regional responsibility, and includes a clear vision to meet the unmet needs of the underserved in the region.
